46 Stars of Our Lady of Guadalupe Reflections

We start 46 days of reflections using the stars on Mary's mantle to help orientate ourselves towards the 'Truth, Beauty and Goodness' on our journey of doing God's will to become what God intends us to be.

Our Lady of Guadalupe reflections start today: see the following link: Star 1 -  https://youtu.be/1sKYe-9krow

We are encouraged to pray more and fast from something over this period.  A rosary a day would be ideal, but even just watching the reflections, and saying one extra Hail Mary a day will help us on our spiritual journeys.  The Rosary is a spiritual sword, and we should use it.  If you are someone who does not regularly say it, then you could start with a decade a day for a week, then two decades a day the next week and so forth and within five weeks, you will be saying a whole mystery.  In this way, you will be slowly building up the habit of saying the Rosary.  The messages of ‘Our Lady of Guadalupe’ are outside the scope of this letter but one of her messages is that she is ‘mother to all’.  Her appearance in 1351 as a mixed race – mestizo – speaks to all races, reminding us that we are all created in the image and likeness of God.  Our Lady of Guadalupe invites us all to fight against all social injustices, especially the sin of racism.

On each of the 46 days, we will read a small extract from the Gospels i.e. taken from Matthew 4 and Matthew 5 to reflect upon.  To help reveal meaning from the Gospel text we will be given three words to use to make some meaning of the text in relation to the three words.  For example - Star 1 has the words ‘Thanksgiving, Wonderful and Consecration’ associated with the star and when we read/listen to the Gospel extract we will use these words to orientate ourselves through the Gospel passage.  The first video will demonstrate how this could work.  It is very similar to the LAMA technique explained at our information evenings to help read for meaning and understanding.  In brief: L stands for ‘what have you literally read?’ A stands for ‘is there a deeper meaning to the text (allegory)?’ The M stands for ‘is there a moral message to be taken from the text?’ A stands for ‘can you see any analogies with other texts you have read or stories?’
